Deserved Nothing

Four days after we went down fighting to a last kick sucker punch. We produced what was possibly our worst performance of the season. With Kiran Harrison on holiday and Brad Maslen-Jones injured we had lost two of our most experienced and influential players but that was no excuse for this horror show.

It was nice to have our visitors heap praise on our warm welcome and hospitality, but that was nothing to how giving we were on the pitch.

Winsford took the lead on 8 minutes when a punt up field from keeper Jacob Kirwan was met by Elliott Coleman who was a mile offside and the assistant raised his flag and then put it down to the frustration of the home defence. but we still should have dealt with the chest down for Ryan Jackson to poke the ball home.

Tividale rode their luck in the 17th minutes when another long ball was handled by Tividale’s Eddie Rann but the referee only showed a yellow card.

On 40 minutes Connor Hooks just failed to get on the end of a Matthew Birchall corner. But 3 minutes later it was Hooks himself who doubled the Winsford lead when his deflected shot beat Thomas Hipkiss making his debut in goal.

Half Time:- Tividale 0-2 Winsford United
Coleman had the first chance of the half but Hipkiss got down well to collect the ball. On the hour a Jackson cross was met by a Birchall diving header that went wide of the upright.
Tividale ended the game in disarray. First Matt Holland receiving his second yellow card for a foul with 10 minutes to go and then two minutes later Ben Graham also received his second yellow and Tividale ended the game with nine men

Tividale 2-3 Stourport Swifts

Swifts Snatch

A thundering 25 yard free kick 11 minutes into injury time from Billy Moore gave the Swifts all three points in this end to end MPL match.

Both sides let early chances slip, but it Tividale who went ahead after 28 minutes when Brad Maslen-Jones’ corner was met 8 yards out at the far post by Matt Holland , who powered in an unstoppable header.

Leo Gouveia saw his low shot saved by Kieran Harrison in the Tividale goal, and Kai Adams, looking a constant threat, fired narrowly wide minutes later. Lewis Moseley then cleared a close range Kyle Byrne effort off the line as the Swifts defence began to creak, but on the stroke of half time they were level when Adams, after an electric run into the box past two defenders, saw his shot saved by Harrison, but Moore was on hand to drive the rebound into the roof of the net.

Half Time:- Tividale 1-1 Stourport Swifts

Five minutes into the second half Mason Straker was judged to have pulled down Ezekiel Agyemang in the box, but Josh Lewis produced an outstanding save to his right to keep out his fierce spot kick.

Stourport took the lead for the first time in the 57th minute when Joe Philips was first to connect at the near post with a deft header to steer home Moore’s left side corner. Eight minute later however the scores were level again when after a frantic scramble in the Swifts box, Agyemang’s half hit shot was flagged to have crossed the line to make it 2-2.

With both sides pressing from corners as the clock ticked down, Swifts were awarded  a free kick just outside the box and Moore fired in a spectacular match winner.
