It’s Getting Closer

Tividale will kick off the 2020-21 season on Tuesday 1st September with an FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie. Opponents will not be known until the draw is made on Tuesday 18th August

The Midland Football League have also provisionally released the early season fixtures and our first league match of the new league campaign will be at home to Long Eaton United on Saturday 5th September

With the league running one team short (19) this season with the resignation of South Normanton FC from the league, a team will miss out in every round of fixtures.

We then travel to Worcester City and their new home at Claines Lane, Worcester on Wednesday 9th September and with the next round of the FA Cup on the 12th September, we then welcome Stourport Swifts on Tuesday 15th September

These fixtures are, however, subject to a meeting between the FA and Step 5 & 6 league secretaries on Monday 16th August and supporters being allowed back into grounds by the 1st September.

In an email to clubs, the League said: “These fixtures are released with the assumption that the FA will shortly announce that crowds will be allowed at Steps five and six matches.

“If we are informed between now and 5th September that this is not the case, then we will make further announcements regarding these matches.”

The League also plan to release fixtures from 19th September onwards, once leagues at higher levels have confirmed theirs.

“Given that the Northern Premier League and Southern League do not plan to start their season until 19th September, this means that their fixtures for the season will not be released until the end of the month. As we are planning to start on 5th September these timescales would impact our ability to release a full season’s fixtures in timely fashion.

“Therefore, we have made the decision to release the initial two weeks’ fixtures early so that clubs have the maximum time to make preparations. The balance of the fixtures will be released shortly after the Steps 3 & 4 Leagues have released theirs.”

PSF – Stafford Town

Pre Season Friendly
Tuesday 11th August 2020
Stafford Town 2-3 Tividale

It was a much improved Tividale performance against Stafford Town in sweltering and uncomfortable conditions. With the return of the Carter brothers (Luke Carter pictured) and another couple of trialists, Manager Dave King had a few more options tonight.

Both sides hadearly chances but it was the visitors that opened the scoring with a trialist turning home a Dan Smith cross. Later the trialist returned the favour with Smith heading home his corner.

Stafford deserverdly were rewarded for their endeavour at the end of the half when Kyle Wainwright headed home.

With the normal mass substitutions in the second period again the it was nip and tuck and Connor Leek pulled Stafford level with a long range effort only for Ryan Grosvenor to put Tividale ahead again with a shot from similar distance. (Two goals where both keepers may feel they could have done better) and that is how it ended.

And once again we must thank Stafford Town for their hardwork in getting this game on in this strict Covid19 enviroment.

PSF – Dudley Town

Pre Season Friendly
Saturday 8th August 2020
Dudley Town 4-0 Tividale

Tividale’s second pre season saw them up against an experienced Dudley Town side. Manager Dave King had to play a high number of trialist due to unavailability and also had the Carter brothers missing from last Saturday.

But even with the changes the performace itself was not the best as Dudley took the game to the visitors and although they were only a goal ahead at half time it could have been more.

The second half again was Dudley’s as the visitors failed to really trouble their defence. Dan Smith (pictured) with a header there only realsight of goal.

Dudley added a second courtesy of a penalty half way through the second period and then quickly added another two, to round off a deserved and comprehensive win.

Once again we must thank Dudley Town for their hardwork in getting this game on in this strict Covid19 enviroment.
