League Fixtures Released

The long-awaited MFL Premier fixture schedule has dropped on the digital doormat here in B69.  We’ll begin the league campaign with a home game against Whitchurch Alport, who incidentally, we’ll be playing in the FA Vase on 11th September.

Then, like all other seasons, the plan is that we play a whole load of other games, before a final game of the season. That is due to be at home against Lichfield City on the last day of April.  The way the last two seasons have gone though, who knows what is going to happen?

You can see the full Tividale FC fixture list here.

A chat with the gaffer.

It’s been a while since we collared the gaffer for a chat, so we felt it was time. Hear his views here on the approach to pre-season friendlies, the work on the pitch at The Beeches, and the club’s approach to remembering our beloved Jan Cotton – a legend of the club who sadly passed away recently.

2021 Preseason Friendlies

After two aborted campaigns of the Midland Football League due to Covid-19, we are all looking for things to be a lot more conventional during the 2021-2022 season. As part of preparation for the season, Dave King’s Tividale will play a series of preseason friendlies during July. We will kick the series off with a trip to Stafford Town FC, and conclude with a home fixture against Worcester Raiders. The full schedule is below.

2021/22 pre-season schedule:

3rd Jul – @StaffordTown1st (A)

6th Jul – @broctonfc(A)

7th Jul –@tiptontownfc (A)

10th Jul – @HerefordPegasus(A)

13th Jul – @DudleySportsFC(A)

17th Jul – @AFCBridgnorth(A)

24th Jul – @SportingKhalsa(H)

31st Jul – @RaidersFC(H)

All Saturday afternoon games are currently scheduled to begin at 3pm, while midweek games will kick off at 7.30.  As things are subject to change though, we would advise checking for amendments closer to the games.

World Mental Health Day – October 10th

Saturday 10th October is World Mental Health Day. To help raise awareness for the issue – which affects up to one in four people in the UK every year – the Tividale players will be warming up for the FA Vase game against Stapenhill wearing T-shirts in recognition of the day.

The matchday programme will also feature the campaign on the front cover, along with personal comments from many within the club including a must-read in-depth testimony by Lisa King (aka the boss’ boss), the better half of first team manager Dave King. We just had to include that HERE too. We are all the same – behind the act we put on for the public lies the potential for any of us to be suffering mental health issues. Some will be greater than others, but all are equally important. Lisa’s words were difficult for her to write, but she did it, and deserves praise for her strength. If the demons can live behind that cheeky smile, they can live within any of us.

Some useful links:

Time to Change is a growing social movement working to change the way we all think and act about mental health problems. They’ve already reached millions of people and begun to improve attitudes and behaviour. Take a look HERE.

We get it. You want to talk about it, but it’s not always easy to talk, right? So how about having a listen first? ‘The Black Country Blokes’ is a podcast we can all relate to, and features four regular fellas from around these parts dealing chewing the fat over primarily mental health, but also in general about being a man in today’s society. There’s a link to it on Apple HERE, or just do a wee search within your regular podcast provider.
