World Mental Health Day – October 10th

Saturday 10th October is World Mental Health Day. To help raise awareness for the issue – which affects up to one in four people in the UK every year – the Tividale players will be warming up for the FA Vase game against Stapenhill wearing T-shirts in recognition of the day.

The matchday programme will also feature the campaign on the front cover, along with personal comments from many within the club including a must-read in-depth testimony by Lisa King (aka the boss’ boss), the better half of first team manager Dave King. We just had to include that HERE too. We are all the same – behind the act we put on for the public lies the potential for any of us to be suffering mental health issues. Some will be greater than others, but all are equally important. Lisa’s words were difficult for her to write, but she did it, and deserves praise for her strength. If the demons can live behind that cheeky smile, they can live within any of us.

Some useful links:

Time to Change is a growing social movement working to change the way we all think and act about mental health problems. They’ve already reached millions of people and begun to improve attitudes and behaviour. Take a look HERE.

We get it. You want to talk about it, but it’s not always easy to talk, right? So how about having a listen first? ‘The Black Country Blokes’ is a podcast we can all relate to, and features four regular fellas from around these parts dealing chewing the fat over primarily mental health, but also in general about being a man in today’s society. There’s a link to it on Apple HERE, or just do a wee search within your regular podcast provider.

It’s OK to not be OK. Please reach out.
