Match Preview – Stafford Town

THE FACTS

Buildbase Sponsored FA Vase
First Round Qualifying
Stafford Town v Tividale
Saturday 31st August 2019
Kick off at 3:00pm

After going out of The Emirates Sponsored FA Cup against Chasetown last weekend we are back in the ‘other’ national competition The Buildbase Sponsored FA Vase.

Our opposition in this competition is Stafford Town, who play in Division One of the Midland Football League, a division below us. They have had a difficult start to the season after gaining promotion last season and have so far played most of the fancied sides in the division in their first 6 games winning one, drawing one and losing four. But we will not be taking them lightly as we know in cup competition’s the form book goes out the window.

THE HISTORY

Their is not much of a history between the two sides and we have to go back to 2013 for what may have been our last meeting when goals from Karl Edwards and Brett Clarke helped Tividale to a 2-0 win.

Match Preview – Lye Town

THE FACTS

Midland Football League
Premier Division
Tividale FC v Lye Town
Monday 26th August 2019
Kick off at 3:00pm

No disrespect to the West Midland Regional League but these are the games you look forward to Bank Holiday Monday’s at The Beeches. Oh, and the opposition helps as well.

It’s been all change at our rival’s Lye Town as ex Tividale manager Dean Whitehouse is now the ‘Boss’ down at The Sports Ground having arrived from Dudley Town. It’s been a difficult start for the Lye not only has Dean had to deal with a mass turnover in the staff and squad. Something that often happens at this level when a new manager steps in. But they also have the situation every season where they cannot play a home game until the middle of September because they share their ground with the local cricket team.

If our multiple meeting’s with Dudley Town last season are anything to go by, this is going to be another game that will be to tight to call.

THE HISTORY

The last time we were in the Midland Football League the 2016-2017 season, we also met each other on the August Bank Holiday Monday and our visitors ran out deserved 2-0 winners against a young Tividale side that included a baby faced Tom Hurdman that the then new manager Dave King had just started to assemble. Jack Pearlman scored both the Lye goals.

The return game on Boxing Day ended with another Lye win but a much better Tividale performance. By this time King had added Darragh Bustin, Karl Gardner, Dan Smith and Lewis Probert (first time round) to his squad. Tividale went ahead when Lewis McPike scored from the spot. But goal’s from Ben Billingham and Scott Gerrard turned the game on it’s head.

Last season (2018-2019) was the next time the two sides met in the JW Hunt Cup. And this was a cracker. Lye took the lead through ex Tividale midfielder Joe Lawley but Ben Birch equalised for Tividale before half time. Lawley put the visitors back in front straight after the break. Dan Smith brought Tividale level before a Brad Welding free kick sent the home side through.

Match Preview – Chasetown

THE FACTS

Emirates Sponsored FA Cup
Preliminary Round
Tividale FC v Chasetown
Saturday 24th August 2019
Kick off at 3:00pm

In our second of our three home games this Bank Holiday week, we host Chasetown in the Emirates Sponsored FA Cup Preliminary Round.

We know that we will have to be better than we were in the last round when we just about got past an unlucky Wednesfield. Because this is a side that is not only playing at a level above us but have an amazing recent history in this competition. More of that in the match day programme if you didn’t already know it.

Tividale on the other hand have to be pleased with the start to their season and after the last two performances will be going into this game full of confidence.

THE HISTORY

We have a decent record against Chasetown going back to our Evo-Stik Northen Premier days. In our first season August 2014, we met on Bank Holiday Monday and it ended in a 0-0 stalemate. The reverse fixture saw us run out 2-0 winners with goals from Danny Ashton and Chris Field. Chasetown got some revenge in the semi final of that season’s Walsall Senior Cup,winning comfortable 3-0.

The following season, while it was a tough season for us one of the highlights was a battling 1-1 draw at The Beeches. Ryan Winter put the visitors ahead but Chris Sterling grabbed the equaliser from the spot. Despite another gutsy display from Tividale it was Chasetown who took the spoils with a 2-1 win at the Scholars ground. Henry Eze and Nicky Turton gave the home side a 2-0 lead but although Tividale pulled one back through Matt Jukes they were unable to find the equaliser.

Match Preview – Haughmond

THE FACTS

Midland Football League
Premier Division
Tividale FC v Haughmond
Tuesday 20th August 2019
Kick off at 7:45pm

After Saturday’s win at Gresley we are back home for a clash against the side that ensured that the title challenge was taken to the final match of last season and their reward was to deservedly join us in this season’s Midland Football League

As with us they have kept a number of players from last season including last season’s league top goal scorer Steve Hole. So this is going to be another tight contest.

THE HISTORY

We met last season and though we edged the first game 3-2 at Haughmond in an epic in monsoon conditions with two Dan Smith goals and one from Demetri Brown. Adam Davies and Steve Hole the scorer’s for Haughmond.

The game at The Beeches was a completely different affair. Haughmond went ahead in the 2nd minute through Matt Fletcher and although the score line stayed the same for 75 minutes. Dan Smith was then sent off for two yellow cards and a 12 minute hat trick by Mr Hole helped Haughmond to run out 4-0 winners.
