Tividale 0-3 Stone Old Alleynians

So Very, Very Poor

At any level of football, you will always have bad days, individually, as a team or as a club. But it will be accepted if you try, and it just doesn’t work out.

This was one of those days and though we are sure the lads will feel that they all put a shift in. From the side it just didn’t look like it.

Tividale made two changes from the Shifnal defeat at the weekend. Jack Fletcher and Ryan Snape coming in for Zac Kourouyianni and Cody Mullan respectively.

It all started so well for the home side despite Stone having the early chances. With Jack Tomlinson firing over and then a deflected shot was fielded by Tividale keeper Peter Hawk. Tividale’s first chance saw Dan Smith flashing a header wide and then Jack Downing firing a shot just wide of the post.

On 15 minutes Stone’s Sam Bowater was put through and he chipped Hawk, but the ball went wide of Hawk’s far post. Then on 22 minutes Stone’s defender powered a header back off the crossbar. Joseph Berk was then denied by Hawk after a great run and shot. Downing then had a similar chance for Tividale but he skied his effort.

In the 40th minute Berk’s free kick was well saved by Hawk after it took a deflection. Then a minute later Oliver Davies nearly cashed in on a lucky break of the ball, but his shot hit a Tividale defender and cleared.

As half time loomed Tividale created another great chance. Lovely one touch passing between Malcolm Melvin and Snape ended with the latter firing over. On the stroke of half time a Sam Bowater shot was turned around the post by Hawk.

Half Time: – Tividale 0-0 Stone Old Alleynians

The second half started badly and went downhill very quickly after that.  Within three minutes after the restart, from a Stone corner, Tividale failed to get the ball clear. After a number of shots were blocked, the ball came out to Jack Tomlinson who made no mistake from 10 yards, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

10 minutes later and Tomlinson tried his luck again, but Hawk was equal to it. Townsend had an effort beaten away by Parry in the Stone goal and cleared by a defender on 60 minutes

In the 72nd minute from a Bradbury corner Hawk did well to turn over the bar Bailey’s header. But from the subsequent corner, an unmarked Tomlinson powered home a header that gave Hawk no chance.

Apart from a Welding free kick that was off target, Tividale where now looking like a well beaten side and the visitors were first to every tackle, header, second ball, the lot as Tividale struggled to get hold of the ball or even put two passes together and Stone was now in cruise control and should have extended their lead on 75 minutes when a James Pritchard cross was met by a Tomlinson scissor kick that flashed wide.

Stone skipper Martin Thomas was sent away in the 78th minute but chose to shoot from a tight angle when a pass across the Tividale penalty area to two teammates unmarked looked a much better option. Snape saw his shot clear the bar in a rare Tividale attack. Before a Bradbury free kick was headed home by an unmarked Josh Sedgley to make it 3-0 and put an end to Tividale’s miserable night

Shifnal Town vs Tividale

Shifnal Town 2-0 Tividale
No Shiftin home side

(Report courtesy of Shifnal Town)

After the 6-1 midweek win against Coventry United. Tividale were buoyant going into this game against a Shifnal side looking to move into the top two.

The only problem was that the squad was now feeling the effects of 6 weeks of two games a week.

With Jakob Burroughs and Jamie Hunt suspended joining Curtis Cocking, Joe Burroughs, Louis Ezewele, Lewis Taylor-Boyce all unavailable due to injuries

If the home side had taken all of the chances that they created, the game would have been over as a contest by half-time.

As it was, after an early goal, Town supporters were on the edge of their seats until the 89th minute, when they finally put the game to bed.

A cagey start saw both sides sparring for a breakthrough, until the hosts opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Keanu Cooper’s crossfield ball was retrieved by Kane Lewis, who laid it off for Jeremy Abbey. He turned and slotted the ball inside the far post from 12 yards.

Shifnal were close to doubling their lead after 19 minutes, when Mikey Nelson’s cross was half-cleared to Abbey, whose header was turned onto the top of the crossbar by Pete Hawk in the Tividale goal. The resulting corner came to Abbey again, but Hawk dived to turn his low shot round the post for another corner.

The visitors’ first effort on goal came in the 27th minute, when Jason Wood’s 25-yard shot was deflected for a corner. The hosts really should have extended their lead on 35 minutes, when Josh Green’s superb cross found Tyrone Ofori unmarked in front of goal, but his header was too high.

Half Time: – Shifnal Town 1-0 Tividale

Town had a scare 3 minutes after the interval with a quick break which ended with Dan Smith’s 20-yard effort beating Adam Whitehouse, only to come back off the crossbar.

Shifnal were awarded a penalty after 57 minutes when Hawk brought down Nelson in the area, but the keeper atoned for his mistake by saving Abbey’s spot-kick.

A minute later at the other end, Malcolm Melvin had a 20-yard shot turned round the post by Whitehouse as Tividale pressed for an equaliser. 2 minutes later, a low cross from the right was ballooned over by Smith from 10 yards.

Green was unlucky after 62 minutes with a 20-yard free-kick which glanced off a defender’s head for a corner.

The visitors’ substitute Ryan Snape brought a good save from Whitehouse with an angled effort in the 65th minute. Shifnal grabbed the all-important second goal after 89 minutes, when Jack Kelly played the ball out to substitute Luke Walsh, who dribbled across the edge of the penalty area, checked and turned before his shot took a massive deflection and looped over Hawk to decide the game.

Tividale 4-1 Racing Club Warwick

Tividale Race away with the Points

After the midweek league cup win it was back to league action and a chance to extend their unbeaten run at the hands of Racing Club Warwick who we had beat 2-1 earlier in the season with goals from Wonder and Jack Downing.

As expected, there were changes to the Tividale line up that had eased past Wednesfield in mid-week, with Brad Welding, Cody Mullan, Lewis Taylor-Boyce, and Ryan Snape all dropping to the bench and Louis Ezewele, Curtis Cocking, Dan Smith, and Jack Downing coming into the starting lineup.

There was nothing between the sides in the first quarter of the game. The best chance came from Racings Josh Parsons whose free kick struck the Tividale wall. On 17 minutes Tividale had a great chance of going ahead. A Jack Downing cross found Taylor Townsend, but his shot was well saved by Racing keeper Dan Crane’s legs.

With the pace of the game frenetic there was going to be chances created and on 26 minutes the chance came, and it was converted. Jakob Burroughs with a long throw into the Racing box. It was cleared to the edge of the 18-yard box and Jason Wood swept the ball home. Downing then tested Crane with a shot in the 33rd minute that the keeper just managed to get a palm too and turn the ball around the post for a corner.

Racing had the last decent chance of the half on 41 minutes when a Parsons free kick was headed wide by Kory Burke.

Half Time: -Tividale 1-0 Racing Club Warwick

The game carried on being played at a very high tempo but with little work for either keeper to do as both defences had the upper hand, that was until the 57th minute when a Jakob Burroughs cross was headed home by Downing to make it 2-0 and 10 minutes later it was three nil, and it was literally a repeat of the first goal. The visitors fail to deal with a long throw and Smith reacts first to rifle the loose ball into the roof of the net. 3-0

The visitors stepped up their attacks and had a chance on 70 minutes when full back Archie Hamp had an effort parried away by Tividale keeper Louis Connor. A minute later and Downing again fired in a low cross but his wing partner Townsend just could not get a touch to.

Tividale were not intent to sit on their laurels and kept committing men forward in search of more goals and central defender Matt Hunt shot straight into the arms of Crane from a corner.

With Tividale looking to increase their lead, there was always the chance of Racing hitting them on the counter and in the third minute of additional time. They did just that. Hannibal Sallami broke away and placed the ball past Connor and into the back of the net.

Tividale did regain their three-goal advantage in the 95th minute when another Downing cross into the box was met with a sublime side foot volley by Cody Mullan to finish the scoring,

Tividale vs Darlaston Town 1874

Midland Football League

Saturday 15th October 2022
Tividale 0-0 Darlaston Town 1874

Stalemate with Darlo

Against local rivals Darlaston Town 1874. Tividale beat Darlaston 4-0 in their first match of the season. It was the FA Cup, and it was their first game at level 5. The margin of victory flattered the visitors. As we were 2-0 up in the first 15 minutes.Added a third on the stroke of half time and with Darlaston pressing they were
caught on the counter attack.

Manager Dave King was able to bring defender Louis Ezewele back from injury and in doing so rest Joe Burroughs who was carrying a strain from the Worcester midweek win. Jamie Hunt reverted to his midfield role replacing Jason Wood after filling in as a striker against Worcester. With Dan Smith reclaiming the No. 9 shirt. The rest of the side was as the midweek game.

Tividale had the first chance on 7 minutes when Zac Kourouyianni met Taylor Townsend’s corner, but his header missed the target. Tividale had to make a change on 14 minutes when goalkeeper Peter Hawk was
taken out very late by Darlaston forward Kieron Miller. There was no doubt that there was nothing malicious in the challenge but although the yellow card was shown, few would have been surprised had it been a red.
Anyway after being down for 8 minutes Hawk was unable to continue and Louis Connor went in between the sticks. A couple of minutes later and Darlaston had their first chance.

Tividale failed to deal with a long ball into their box and Darlaston’s Dominic Dell was first to react, trying a lob that cleared Connor’s crossbar. On 20 minutes another Kourouyianni effort flashed wide of Darlaston keeper Joe Sidaways post.

The game then settled into a period of defensive supremacy as both sides failed to create a clear cut chance until the 41st minute when from a Darlaston throw. Dell found Lewis Gill but his shot sailed high and wide.

Half Time Tividale 0-0 Darlaston Town 1874

The second period was much the same as the first with chances a rarity. In the 50th minute the visitors forward Rivel Maldenborough tested Connor with an effort and a minute later full back Josh Jones shot wide when Tividale failed to clear. On the hour mark it was Tividale’s turn to go close. From a free kick it was only
cleared to the edge of the Darlaston area. The loose ball was met by Taylor Townsend and his shot rattled Sidaaway’s crossbar.

Tividale came on strong in the latter stages and from a Townsend quick throw on 73 minutes Ryan Snape shot wide. Brad Welding then put in a superb cross that Smith volleyed the wrong side of the post.
It was Darlaston who had the last decent chance of the game when a Jones cross was headed over the bar
