Tividale 3-3  AFC Wolverhampton City

A Game of  Two Halves

Tividale earned a point against play off chasing AFC Wolverhampton City but the lads were still disappointed.

I am sure we would have taken your arm if offered a point at 3pm, but the lad’s first half performance was arguably the best we had played all season and within a minute of the second period we were 3-0 ahead, but AFC showed why they are where they are in the league and were level within 20 minutes of the half and in the end we had to dig in to earn the point.

Tividale were ahead after just 6 minutes took an early lead as they catch City asleep and Alfie Higgs nips  inside off the left and fires low past Arnold. Tividale nearly add a second as Higgs shoots low but Arnold gets down well.

On 13 minutes it was 2-0 as Higgs charged down the keepers clearance and scored from an acute angle.

On the half hour Arnold does well again to turn a Ben McSkeane shot around the post, AFC never really threatened in the half as Tividale went into the interval on top.

Half Time:- Tividale 2–0 AFC Wolverhampton City

Within a minute of the second period and a slip in the AFC defence and Ezekiel Agyemang pounced to make it 3-0.

What Tividale required was a quiet 5 minute period where they settle and get ready for the inevitable onslaught from the visitors but  instead 90 seconds later it was 3-1 as Joe Clarke rises highest in the box from a corner and his header hits the far corner.

AFC were now the dominant side and 4 minutes later it was 3-2. When City get another from another set piece. This time the ball bounces in the box and falls to Wedderburn who smashes it passed Jack Higgs

City were level on 66 minutes when another corner caused Tividale’s problems. This time again Tividale failed to clear and a Cockerell back heel beat Jack Higgs. The home side then had to defend brilliantly as AFC poured forward but Tividale’s defence stood firm and saw out the game for the point.

Full Time:- Tividale 3-3 AFC Wolverhampton City

In summary it was the old cliché of a game of two halves and Tividale should have been out of sight in the first half, but credit to AFC who battled back to earn the draw.
