Tividale 0-0 Darlaston Town 1874

Stalemate with Darlo

Against local rivals Darlaston Town 1874. Tividale beat Darlaston 4-0 in their first match of the season. It was the FA Cup, and it was their first game at level 5. The margin of victory flattered the visitors. As we were 2-0 up in the first 15 minutes.Added a third on the stroke of half time and with Darlaston pressing they were
caught on the counter attack.

Manager Dave King was able to bring defender Louis Ezewele back from injury and in doing so rest Joe Burroughs who was carrying a strain from the Worcester midweek win. Jamie Hunt reverted to his midfield role replacing Jason Wood after filling in as a striker against Worcester. With Dan Smith reclaiming the No. 9 shirt. The rest of the side was as the midweek game.

Tividale had the first chance on 7 minutes when Zac Kourouyianni met Taylor Townsend’s corner, but his header missed the target. Tividale had to make a change on 14 minutes when goalkeeper Peter Hawk was
taken out very late by Darlaston forward Kieron Miller. There was no doubt that there was nothing malicious in the challenge but although the yellow card was shown, few would have been surprised had it been a red.
Anyway after being down for 8 minutes Hawk was unable to continue and Louis Connor went in between the sticks. A couple of minutes later and Darlaston had their first chance.

Tividale failed to deal with a long ball into their box and Darlaston’s Dominic Dell was first to react, trying a lob that cleared Connor’s crossbar. On 20 minutes another Kourouyianni effort flashed wide of Darlaston keeper Joe Sidaways post.

The game then settled into a period of defensive supremacy as both sides failed to create a clear cut chance until the 41st minute when from a Darlaston throw. Dell found Lewis Gill but his shot sailed high and wide.

Half Time Tividale 0-0 Darlaston Town 1874

The second period was much the same as the first with chances a rarity. In the 50th minute the visitors forward Rivel Maldenborough tested Connor with an effort and a minute later full back Josh Jones shot wide when Tividale failed to clear. On the hour mark it was Tividale’s turn to go close. From a free kick it was only
cleared to the edge of the Darlaston area. The loose ball was met by Taylor Townsend and his shot rattled Sidaaway’s crossbar.

Tividale came on strong in the latter stages and from a Townsend quick throw on 73 minutes Ryan Snape shot wide. Brad Welding then put in a superb cross that Smith volleyed the wrong side of the post.
It was Darlaston who had the last decent chance of the game when a Jones cross was headed over the bar
