Wisbech Town 2-2 Tividale
(Tividale win 4-3 on Penalties)

Connor the pen hero

Tividale made it three cup wins on the bounce in another closely fought game this time away at a particularly good Wisbech Town. In the end it was Louis Connor’s three penalty saves that was the difference between the two teams.

Tividale dominated the first period and could have been three up had it not been for the woodwork. Yet it was Wisbech who had the first threat on goal when Toby Allen headed over a 2nd minute free kick. On 15 minutes Tividale hit the post through Ewan Edwards, the ball then came to Cain Smith who saw his shot come back off the cross bar and landed at the feet of James Douglas who shot over. Wisbech full back Sisa Tuntulwana then whipped a cross that took a deflection that sent it just went wide of Louis Connor’s far post.

Tividale struck the woodwork for a third time on 24 minutes when Edwards’s shot beat Wisbech keeper Daniel George, but this effort also come back off his far post. Tividale made the breakthrough five minutes later on 29 minutes when a driving run from Cody Mullan enabled an unmarked Townsend to finish off the move by stroking the ball past George.

Wisbech ended the half the better side and had three golden chances First on 32 minutes Allen brought a comfortable save out of Connor. On 37 minutes Tuntulwana thrashed the ball high and wide when through on goal and a couple of minutes later Amir Ward’s cross was headed over by Christian Assombalonga

Half Time :- Wisbech Town 0-1 Tividale

Wisbech started the second period as they started the first with a great chance. But this time they took it in the opening minutes. When Ward stroked the ball home after being set up by  Aaron Hart in the 46th minute.

Wisbech continued to press but Ward blazed his shot over the bar when well-placed and the home side also hit the post and had two chances to score in an almighty goalmouth scramble. It seemed certain that the Fenmen would go on to win but the visitors then took advantage of the back pass to restore their lead.

The turning point in the match came after 73 minutes when, with Wisbech in command, a disastrous attempted back pass by defender Kern Miller resulted in a gift for striker Dom Dell, who slotted into an empty net to put his side 2-1 up.

Wisbech continued to press and equalised when sub Rob Conyard found the net with an angled shot, with his first touch of the ball, after 83 minutes and that is how it ended. Then to penalties.
