Tividale 2 -3 Wyrley
It doesn’t get any better
Just as you think we have turned the corner we come up with another disappointing result. Not a lot can be said regarding the manner of this latest defeat. Although we had the majority of the possession and huffed and puffed, we never really laid a glove on an opposition who plain and simple wanted it more than us.
The night got off to the worse start when forward Lewis Taylor-Boyce pulled up in the warm up and had to be withdrawn from the squad. and it got from bad to worse when on 12 minutes Tividale keeper Louis Connor could only parry a shot from James Appleby Tividale’s defence could only clear it to the edge of the box and Alex Arrowsmith was quickest to react and he fired home.
The exact opposite happened 10 minutes later when Wyrley keeper Lee Garghan failed to hold onto a Ryan Snape shot but he was able to comfortably grab the ball at the second attempt with no Tividale player within yards of him.
tividale were level on 32 minutes when full back Cameron East went on a run at the heart of the Wyrley defence and finished like a forward with a great strike. Then right on the stroke of half time Wyrley were back in front when another ball into the box was not dealt with. The shot came in and crashed off the crossbar and again a Wyrley player was quickest to react, this time it was Joshua McGregor who was there to stab the ball home.
Half Time:- Tividale 1 -2 Wyrley
Within three minutes of the restart, Tividale had a great chance to draw level when Kamol Campbell and Taylor Townsend exchanged passed down the left flank but Campbell’s shot was wide of the target. Five minutes later and it was Townsends turn to shoot wide after creating the shooting chance for himself.
Tividale were now bossing the game and should have drawn level in the 68th minute when a Snape free kick headed over by Elliot Sumnall. Tividale did draw level in the 77th minute when Dominic Dell rose and thundered home his header from a Townsend corner.
The game then began to meander and looked as though it was heading for a penalty shoot out when a Jadent Henry-Dean long ball forward had to much on it and Connor came out to clear it back up field. But as the keeper came out to meet the ball and pump it back up field he slipped and the ball rolled under his foot and into his net. So after reaching the previous season’s final. Tividale went out at the first attempt this season.
