Rocester 0-1 Tividale
This game could have been over in the first 15 minutes as Tividale led after 2 and then missed 3 great chances to go 4-0 up. Instead Rocester were allowed to grow into the game and in the end wiil feel they deserved at least penalties.
A trip up to Rocester on a Tuesday night was not going to be fun logistics wise but games like this are the reason we are involved at this level. With the kick off at 7:45pm, we had 6 players at 7:05pm and 14 at 7:20pm. With a shortened warm up we were still ready to go on time.
With Lewis Probert, Liam Wilkinson, Tyree Clarke and Richard Hanson unavailable and Brad Welding injured. Boss Dave King had to shuffle personnel and formation. He reverted back to three centre backs in a 5,3,2 formation with starting debuts for Cameron Milne and Kyle Bramley plus to bolster the midfield, the return of Lee Smith re-signed 24 hours earlier.after his spell at Wolves Sporting
Tividale got of to a dream start when Darragh Bustin intercepted a poor Rocester pass, sent Dan Smith away with a pass that split the home defence wide open and one on one with home keeper and the striker gave keeper Kallum Whale no chance with a fine finish. Four minutes later and the visitors has a great chance to make it 2-0. Again Bustin’s ball over the top landed beautifully for Bramley, who in turn tried to chip the keeper but he put to much on it and it cleared keeper and the crossbar. Lee Smith then headed a Bustin corner wide.
Despite Tividale dominating the play the facts were that they were only a goal ahead and on 11 minutes a Tom Hurdman mistake allowed Macauley Rowe in but he put his shot wide. Milne and Dan Smith worked an opening between them in the 13th minute culminating in a Smith shot that Rowe collected at the 2nd attempt. Milne then released Bramley in the 16th minute but his shot was well saved by Rowe. Hunt also had a header well saved by Rowe.
After the mad start to the game it had to calm down and that it did with Rocester getting back into the game and their defence dealing quite comfortably with the Tividale attacks.
Half Time:- Rocester 0-1 Tividale
Rocester’s Elisio Francisco had the only decent chance of the second period but Tividale keeper Louis Connor got down and turned it around the post. With 15 minutes to go a Barnes header from a Bustin corner was well saved by Rowe.
For the remainder of the game Rocester gave as good as they got but just never were able to put enough pressure on a Tividale side who were never pushed to step up a gear.
