Tividale 4-1 Racing Club Warwick

Tividale Race away with the Points

After the midweek league cup win it was back to league action and a chance to extend their unbeaten run at the hands of Racing Club Warwick who we had beat 2-1 earlier in the season with goals from Wonder and Jack Downing.

As expected, there were changes to the Tividale line up that had eased past Wednesfield in mid-week, with Brad Welding, Cody Mullan, Lewis Taylor-Boyce, and Ryan Snape all dropping to the bench and Louis Ezewele, Curtis Cocking, Dan Smith, and Jack Downing coming into the starting lineup.

There was nothing between the sides in the first quarter of the game. The best chance came from Racings Josh Parsons whose free kick struck the Tividale wall. On 17 minutes Tividale had a great chance of going ahead. A Jack Downing cross found Taylor Townsend, but his shot was well saved by Racing keeper Dan Crane’s legs.

With the pace of the game frenetic there was going to be chances created and on 26 minutes the chance came, and it was converted. Jakob Burroughs with a long throw into the Racing box. It was cleared to the edge of the 18-yard box and Jason Wood swept the ball home. Downing then tested Crane with a shot in the 33rd minute that the keeper just managed to get a palm too and turn the ball around the post for a corner.

Racing had the last decent chance of the half on 41 minutes when a Parsons free kick was headed wide by Kory Burke.

The game carried on being played at a very high tempo but with little work for either keeper to do as both defences had the upper hand, that was until the 57th minute when a Jakob Burroughs cross was headed home by Downing to make it 2-0 and 10 minutes later it was three nil, and it was literally a repeat of the first goal. The visitors fail to deal with a long throw and Smith reacts first to rifle the loose ball into the roof of the net. 3-0

The visitors stepped up their attacks and had a chance on 70 minutes when full back Archie Hamp had an effort parried away by Tividale keeper Louis Connor. A minute later and Downing again fired in a low cross but his wing partner Townsend just could not get a touch to.

Tividale were not intent to sit on their laurels and kept committing men forward in search of more goals and central defender Matt Hunt shot straight into the arms of Crane from a corner.

With Tividale looking to increase their lead, there was always the chance of Racing hitting them on the counter and in the third minute of additional time. They did just that. Hannibal Sallami broke away and placed the ball past Connor and into the back of the net.

Tividale did regain their three-goal advantage in the 95th minute when another Downing cross into the box was met with a sublime side foot volley by Cody Mullan to finish the scoring,
