Tividale 1-2 Ashby Ivanhoe

Tivi bow out.

.In a very tight game played on a very heavy pitch two instinctive finishes, sandwiching a superb strike ended Tividale’s FA Vase journey for the 2023-24 season.

This game was actually played at the third attempt of asking after it had been postponed on the previous 2 Saturday’s It was tough on Ashby Ivanhoe that according to the competition rules the game had to be switched because there was no way The Beeches would have been playable either.

Once again Tividale Boss, Stuart How rang out the changes from the side that last played 18 days ago, with Louis Connor, Callum Gillies, Lewis Wright, Joe Burroughs, and Cody Mullan replacing Trevor Beech, Cameron East, Kamol Campbell, Jakob Burroughs and Max Morris, respectively.

Tividale had the best of the opening half hour, and it took a great challenge from Macauley Holmes to prevent Ewan Edwards  the opening goal after just six minutes, and later in the half, Sam Taylor produced an outstanding save, flying to his right to instinctively turn a goal bound Lewis Wright strike over the crossbar.

Ivanhoe took the lead with virtually their first sight of goal. Jake Conkay’s corner was poorly dealt with and Will Groocock was first to react to the loose ball, stabbing it home from no more than a couple of yards.

The goal settled the visitors down. Buoyed by their lead, and they  looked the more likely to get the next goal in the final 10 minutes of the half.

Half Time:- Tividale 0-1 Ashby Ivanhoe

Tividale made a change at half time bringing on Ryan Snape in place of Taylor-Boyce and inside 10 minutes , he brilliantly equalised, cutting inside from the left an unleashing a perfect strike into the top corner.

10 minutes later in the 65th minute and Ashby were back ahead After a flick-on from Taylor’s long goal kick, Grouse found himself beating Tividale’s high line and he unleashed a perfectly weighted half volley, beating Connor over his head and into the net.

Tividale were left stunned but had the majority of the possession in the final 25 minutes. but  Ashby’s back four though remained disciplined and held firm, as the home side pressed for a second equaliser.
