Northwich Victoria 2-2 Tividale
Stopped the Rot
After having last week’s game called off due to the sudden deluge 20 minutes before kick-off and no midweek fixture. A two week break is possibly what Tividale didn’t need right now. But these are the cards you are dealt with and you just have to get over it.
Due to a mixture of holidays and unavailability, Tividale were forced to make a number of changes to the side that lost to Brocton last time out. With both full backs Tom Rann and Brandon Mossini absent, assistant managers Chris Perry and Simon Worton (manager Phil Rann was on holiday) brought in Jevani Robinson at right back and Mohammad Sahil Sajad was moved to left back. Callum Lloyd came in at centre back and Alfie Higgs came in for Eddie Rann in the defensive midfield role. Aon Mohammed Abbas started on the left side of midfield and new signing Ezekiel Agyemang started up front as replacement for the unavailable Ryan Piggott
Vics started the brighter and were ahead after just 4 minutes. A corner was cleared but played back into the Tividale box where Jack Coop was brough down. In which Coop himself stepped up and sent keeper Ethan Hawkes the wrong.
However, Tividale were level 4 minutes later with a bizarre Vic’s own goal. With Tividale debutant Ezekiel Agyemang closing him down but not within 10 yards of him Harris Saunders decided to pass back to the keeper from about 40 yards but instead managed to score what would have been a goal of the season contender had it been at the right end as he managed to strike a beautiful chip over Vic’s keeper Keir Barry’s head into the back of the Vics net
The goal was the boost Tividale needed and were now back in the game. Alfie Higgs fired over on the half hour and a minute later Vic’s Dylan Switters then nearly restored their lead as he beat three men, before firing straight at Hawkes. Switters then had a shot over the bar, but it was Tividale who took the lead, and it was another mistake at the back as Saunders didn’t get enough on a short pass back which allowed Ethan Delaney to nip in and tap the ball into an empty net. Vic’s were deflated now, and not much was happening and a goal looked unlikely until a Switters shot that was going wide found Callum Parker at the far post who fired in to bring the scores level just before half time.
HALF-TIME : Northwich Victoria 2-2 Tividale
The second half proved to be a non-event really, with little cohesive football played by both sides with neither keeper being really tested. Jack Coop curled a shot just wide early on in the half, whilst Will Lloyd struck an effort over the bar after teaming up with Connor Russo. Late on, Jackson Kelly headed over from a Perry cross but that was about the best of the action in a half which petered out into a draw.
